The film opens on a breezy, lighthearted note, immersing us in the vibrant world of campus life and Mannu’s carefree antics. The first half unfolds at a relaxed pace—while it could have benefited from sharper humor and more captivating moments to fully capture the youthful spirit, it never feels sluggish, maintaining a pleasant tone throughout. The narrative truly picks up in the second half, as Mannu is forced to confront the realities of adulthood, responsibility, and a love that runs deeper than mere infatuation. A surprising twist in the finale brings the journey together with heartfelt emotional resonance.
Performances stand out as one of the film’s greatest strengths. Vyom Yadav, in his debut, brings a warm, boy-next-door charm to Mannu, convincingly capturing both his playful immaturity and his gradual growth. Saachi Bindra, also a newcomer, shines as Jiya—confident, natural, and effortlessly believable as the spirited young woman who inspires Mannu to evolve. Together, they create a relatable dynamic that feels grounded rather than larger-than-life. While the fresh faces and Gen-Z vibe may invite comparisons to Saiyaara, Mannu Kya Karegga confidently carves out its own identity. The script deliberately embraces Gen-Z sensibilities—showcasing slang, witty banter, and themes like AI, live-in relationships, and generational clashes. The supporting cast truly shines. Vinay Pathak brings a quiet gravitas to his restrained role, while Kumud Mishra adds emotional depth along with some much-needed comic relief. Rajesh Kumar impresses in a refreshing departure from his usual comedic Sarabhai vs Sarabhai persona. Brijendra Kala and Charu Shankar also deliver performances that add authenticity and credibility to their characters.
Final Thought
Technically, the film holds its ground well. Lalit Pandit’s music is melodious and fitting for the scenes, though it stops short of being chart-topping.
