Going all in is the only option here—and that’s exactly what this series does. With 8 tightly packed episodes, each around 40 minutes long, it’s perfect for a weekend binge. If you’re into mind-bending stories with a hint of madness, this one’s for you.
It kicks off with a shocking murder that sets the tone for what’s to come. There’s a definite Ek Thi Daayan vibe, blending supernatural mystery with social undercurrents that keep you hooked. This isn’t your typical reality-based crime thriller. It’s a cult-driven narrative filled with fanaticism, and while it’s far from realistic, the story still manages to follow its own internal logic and transitions smoothly from one twist to the next.
Mandala Murders won’t appeal to everyone—and that’s perfectly okay. But if you’re into fantasy with a dark twist, it’s a solid one-time watch. The series serves up some compelling plot turns, and the final twist is genuinely surprising—it caught me off guard in the best way. Watching everything fall into place was a lot of fun.
That said, the show isn’t without its flaws. It’s ambitious and sprawling, which can sometimes feel exhausting. While the string of murders adds intrigue, the gruesome factor only kicks in occasionally. At other times, the pacing drags and the narrative can feel a bit lost in its own complexity.
Another issue I had with the series is the lack of chemistry between the characters. Vaani Kapoor’s portrayal of Rea feels disconnected from the rest of the cast, and there’s little sense of camaraderie or emotional bonding among them. While Suvreen Chawla delivers a strong performance—as expected—and Vaibhav Raj Gupta is quite likable, the overall depth of the series feels lacking.
There are also several action sequences, but unfortunately, they’re poorly executed. They come off as overly choreographed and unrealistic—more like people awkwardly flying around on wires than engaging in believable combat. None of it felt grounded, and frankly, those moments were hard to sit through.

That said, the film does manage to build solid tension at times, and the underlying lore is genuinely intriguing. The wardrobe, cinematography, and score all work well together to create an atmospheric experience. The set design is impressive, though the machine itself comes off a bit goofy. Overall, it’s a lukewarm watch—but one I still found fairly enjoyable.

Mandala Murders knows exactly what it wants to be and sticks to that vision. It’s not a great show, but it’s far from the worst. Given Netflix India’s recent run of releases, this one stands out enough to recommend—especially if you’re into fantasy thrillers with an occult twist. If nothing else, it’s entertaining in its own weird way.
