Director-writer Ravi Jadhav, known for his previous works like “Natrang” and “Taali,” along with co-writer Rishi Virmani, excel in chronicling the life and times of this revered figure. Drawing inspiration from Sarang Darshane’s book, “Atalji: Kavihridayache Rashtranetyachi Charitkahani,” the film offers a concise yet comprehensive overview of Vajpayee’s journey from a freedom fighter to a respected leader.
The narrative effectively captures significant milestones such as the Kargil War, the historic bus yatra from India to Pakistan, and the Pokhran Nuclear Test, using archival footage to enhance authenticity and engagement. However, some familiarity with Indian politics may be necessary to fully grasp certain aspects of the movie. While a narrator provides context periodically, additional background information could have been beneficial in these segments.
The film maintains a steady pace initially but occasionally slows down until the interval. However, it regains momentum in the second half, particularly when focusing on the peak of Vajpayee’s political career. Alongside its compelling storytelling, “Main Atal Hoon” boasts remarkable cinematography by Lawrence Alex Dcunha, enhancing key scenes with visually striking imagery.
The soundtrack, featuring contributions from Salim-Sulaiman, Payal Dev, Kailash Kher, and Amritraj, evokes inspiration, complemented by Monty Sharma’s powerful background score. Incorporating Vajpayee’s poetry recitations and lyrics into the music adds an extra layer of charm to the film.

Piyush Mishra as Vajpayee’s father and Ekta Kaul as his longtime friend Rajkumari Kaul also leave a lasting impression.
