Lucky Bhaskar Story :-

Set in the late ’80s and early ’90s, the story follows Bhaskar Kumar (Dulquer Salmaan), a middle-class bank cashier in Bombay, struggling to provide a better life for his family. Living with his younger brother, sister, father, wife Sumathi (Meenakshi Chaudhary), and young son Karthik (Rithvik), Bhaskar is weighed down by financial hardships and mounting debts. Despite his hard work and integrity, he is passed over for a well-deserved promotion at the bank. Following the success of Sir, director Venky Atluri returns with Lucky Baskhar, a gripping period crime drama set against the backdrop of 1990s Bombay—a time when scams and financial schemes ruled the stock market. Anchored around the infamous 1992 securities fraud, the film delves into the world of Bank Receipts and how fortunes were made by exploiting the system. Atluri crafts the journey of Bhaskar Kumar, a man driven by his desire to secure a better future for his family, willing to go to extraordinary lengths in his pursuit.

Dulquer Salmaan shines in the role of Bhaskar, delivering a performance that is understated yet profoundly impactful. He brings depth and relatability to the character, making Bhaskar’s internal struggles and ambitions resonate with the audience. Meenakshi Chaudhary, stepping into a larger role than her previous appearance in Guntur Kaaram, excels as Sumathi, the loving and supportive wife. Her portrayal adds emotional weight to the film, grounding the story in family dynamics.

The strong supporting cast—featuring seasoned actors like Ramki, Sachin Khedekar, P. Sai Kumar, Tinnu Anand, and Raghu Babu, along with emerging talents such as Rithvik, Maanasa Choudhary, Hyper Aadi, Srinath Maganti, and Surya Sreenivas—complements the central narrative. Together, they deliver performances that enhance the film’s emotional and dramatic impact.

Atluri’s engaging screenplay is brought to life by a talented production team that meticulously recreates the retro atmosphere of the era. Cinematographer Nimish Ravi and art director Banglan capture the essence of the time with warm tones and a film grain effect, transporting audiences to the Bombay of the ’80s and ’90s. The visuals are immersive, adding a layer of authenticity to the storytelling. The film’s dialogues are sharp and impactful, effectively delivering emotional beats and enhancing the narrative’s depth.

While the songs may not leave a lasting impression once the film ends, GV Prakash Kumar’s background score plays a crucial role in elevating the mood and intensifying the drama. Editor Navin Nooli ensures the narrative stays tight and compelling, though a few scenes in the second half could have benefitted from a bit more pacing.

If there’s one minor flaw, it would be the attempted humor in the checkpost crossing scene, which doesn’t quite align with the film’s otherwise serious tone, momentarily disrupting the flow. But this is a small quibble in an otherwise solid film.

Lucky Baskhar stands out as a compelling period crime thriller, skillfully blending a nostalgic setting with a powerful narrative of ambition and resilience. Directed by Venky Atluri, the film is anchored by Dulquer Salmaan’s nuanced performance as Bhaskar, supported by a strong ensemble cast. Together, they create an engaging cinematic experience that captivates from start to finish.
