Lucky Baskhar (Netflix) Story :-

Set in the late ’80s and early ’90s, the story follows Bhaskar Kumar (Dulquer Salmaan), a middle-class bank cashier in Bombay. Living with his younger brother, sister, father, wife Sumathi (Meenakshi Chaudhary), and son Karthik (Rithvik), Bhaskar dreams of providing a better life for his family. However, financial struggles and mounting debts weigh him down. Despite his hard work and integrity, he is passed over for a promotion at the bank. After the success of Sir, director Venky Atluri returns with Lucky Bhaskar, a gripping period crime drama set in the Bombay of a bygone era, when financial scams ruled the landscape. Set against the backdrop of the notorious 1992 securities fraud, the film delves into how fortunes were built on the stock market through the manipulation of Bank Receipts. Atluri’s narrative follows the journey of a man whose determination to improve his family’s life drives him to take extraordinary, and often dangerous, steps.

Dulquer Salmaan, in his portrayal of Bhaskar, delivers a performance that is both subtle and powerful. His portrayal brings authenticity to the character, making Bhaskar feel relatable and drawing the audience into his journey with emotional depth. Meenakshi Chaudhary, who previously had a smaller role in Guntur Kaaram, takes on a more significant role here as Sumathi, the devoted wife and mother. Her performance adds a rich emotional layer to the film. The supporting cast, featuring seasoned actors like Ramki, Sachin Khedekar, P. Sai Kumar, Tinnu Anand, and Raghu Babu, along with younger talents such as Rithvik, Maanasa Choudhary, Hyper Aadi, Srinath Maganti, and Surya Sreenivas, all deliver strong performances that enhance the main narrative.

Atluri’s captivating screenplay is supported by a production team that skillfully recreates the nostalgic feel of the era. Cinematographer Nimish Ravi and art director Banglan beautifully capture the essence of the past, using warm tones and film grain to create a distinct cinematic atmosphere. The film’s dialogues are sharp and impactful, enhancing the immersive storytelling. While the songs may not stay with you after the credits roll, GV Prakash Kumar’s background score plays a crucial role in elevating the narrative. Editor Navin Nooli maintains a tight and engaging pace, though a few scenes, particularly in the second half, could have benefitted from a more brisk edit.
