Love Untangled (Netflix) Review :-
Korean drama film Love Untangled is a charming, youthful romance centered on a young girl’s determined quest to tame her perpetually frizzy hair—and finally confess to her high school crush. It’s a simple, sweet story that captures the awkwardness of teenage insecurities and the fluttering excitement of first love. Shin Eun-soo shines as Park Se-ri, a thoroughly relatable protagonist whose struggles feel genuine in every scene. The film often evokes nostalgia, reminding viewers of their own childhood experiences—the innocence of first crushes, first love, and first heartbreaks.
Emotionally, the film is a bit of a rollercoaster. The first half beautifully follows Se-ri and Yun-seok as they slowly fall in love, often without even realizing it themselves. However, the second half introduces a sudden conflict that feels out of place, leaving me puzzled even after its resolution. I found myself frustrated with the twist and confused about why Se-ri and Yun-seok couldn’t simply talk things through following the unexpected tragedy. Despite this, the film ultimately wraps up with a happy ending.
That said, I genuinely enjoyed watching their blossoming romance. While the path to love was fairly predictable and familiar from other films, there’s something timeless and relatable about these stories that always makes them enjoyable. Plus, Gong Myoung and Shin Eun-soo share a sweet chemistry that’s sure to make your heart flutter.
My only issue with the casting was the decision to have a 31-year-old play a high school student. Although Gong delivers a solid performance, he lacks the youthful, boyish charm that feels natural for a teenager, and this disconnect becomes noticeable at times throughout the film.
Aside from that, the film does a nice job of portraying Se-ri’s supportive circle of friends, with minimal focus on bullying. Instead of classmates tormenting her, it’s Se-ri’s own insecurities that create the most emotional weight, which feels more authentic and heartfelt. I really enjoyed watching her gradually come to terms with her feelings and embrace her chaotic, unpredictable energy. It’s refreshingly realistic to see a young girl portrayed as messy and vulnerable rather than cold or overly mature. The film’s pacing is tight and engaging—there’s never a dull moment.

I enjoyed Love Untangled for exactly what it is—a sweet, lighthearted, and ultimately forgettable film. It doesn’t break new ground or leave a lasting impression, but it’s easy to watch and never demanding. The story stays comfortably focused on Se-ri’s emotional growth throughout a school year, without diving too deeply into conflict. If you’re looking for a gentle, feel-good watch to unwind this weekend, this one is a perfect, utterly delightful choice.
