Love and Wine tells the story of a wealthy young man discovering who he really is and finding true love. Ovee is a privileged, spoiled man who has always had everything he wanted. As the son of a billionaire, his charm and status naturally attract attention from many women.
A refreshing aspect of Ovee is that, despite his wealth, he isn’t arrogant and doesn’t look down on others. He is kind and helpful, which is clear in his playful interactions with his childhood friend Nathi, his driver and the son of his caretaker.
To prove Nathi wrong—that girls like him only for his money—Ovee comes up with a challenge. They switch identities so Ovee can live like an ordinary man while trying to win over Amahle, a strong, independent woman proud of achieving success on her own. The movie follows familiar rom-com tropes and sticks closely to the genre’s usual rules.
Ovee comes from wealth, but he isn’t the typical shallow rich guy—he’s kind, charming, and genuinely caring. He also helps older people, showing his generous nature. Amahle, because of her painful past, is naturally wary of wealth. She doesn’t know Ovee’s background and falls for him because of his sincere heart. Both carry personal grief—Ovee lost his mother when he was young—which creates a shared understanding that brings them closer and allows a genuine romance to develop.
