Loot Kaand (MxPlayer) Review :-
In MX Player’s Loot Kaand, Tanya Maniktala plays a semi-detective (though not officially) who thinks twice before diving into her reckless brother’s wild plan to rob a bank. The series relies on the idea that two inexperienced youngsters, with no real knowledge of heists, could pull off a robbery without anyone noticing—helped along by the corruption and lawlessness of the state and a bit of suspension of disbelief.
Loot Kaand is a light and breezy watch. There’s not much at stake, and the series ties up all its storylines by the end, offering a rundown of everything we’ve seen over its six episodes. A key plot point revolves around a young child keeping the robbery a secret from both the police and their parents. The show expects us to believe that this child wouldn’t crack under the pressure of such a high-stakes situation, maintaining the maturity and composure to pull off not one, but two robberies—especially after witnessing a man being shot to death. I get that life in West Bengal can be tough, but there’s got to be a limit to what a seemingly normal child can handle.

The series follows Latika and Palash, who, overwhelmed by the massive debts their father has incurred, decide to rob a bank to repay the loans. While it’s understandable to feel their desperation, it’s hard to ignore how their actions paint them in a negative light, especially Latika, who we’re supposed to sympathize with. Sure, I can empathize with their situation, but the fact that Latika pulls a young child into such a dangerous plot and resorts to bank robbery and forging her grandmother’s signature makes her actions morally questionable. There’s no two ways about it. Even if the creators try to frame Latika as a good person forced into a bad situation, I’d argue that basic morality should prevent anyone from involving a child in something like this.

I also found the plot a bit far-fetched, with so many things that could have gone wrong, making it hard to believe everything went smoothly. How these two individuals became so skilled at committing crimes is questionable at best, and it might make you reluctant to take the series seriously. If viewers don’t overthink it, though, they may find it entertaining, as it works best as a light, forgettable watch. The series wraps up with a bit of a cliffhanger, leaving room for a potential season 2. At least the story answers most of its lingering questions, which is a relief compared to other OTT shows that leave us hanging—something that says a lot about the current state of streaming entertainment.
Loot Kaand (MxPlayer) Trailor :-
Taniya Maniktala delivers a strong performance in the series, as does Sahil Mehta as her brother, Palash. I’m still puzzled as to why no one speaks Bengali despite being in West Bengal, but I’ll let that go. As for Gyanendra Tripathi, his character deserved more depth, which feels like a missed opportunity, but he still does a great job in the series.
Final Thought
I think Loot Kaand is quite entertaining as long as you don’t overanalyze it. The pacing is solid, and the twists are just enough to keep you hooked through its short runtime. However, don’t expect too much from it if you want to avoid feeling let down!
