Lineman (AmazonPrimeVideo) Review :-
There’s nothing more heartbreaking than fate’s cruel twists when we strive to do something extraordinary to prove our worth. Udhaikumar’s Lineman explores this very struggle in the life of an ambitious individual. Set in the salt pans of Thoothukudi, the film follows Senthil (Jegan Balaji), an electronics enthusiast determined to create a device that can save electricity for his village, despite facing numerous challenges along the way.
Surrounded by people who dismiss his passion for innovation, Senthil finds unwavering support in his father, Subbayya (Charlie). A dedicated lineman, Subbayya faces the anger of a loan shark despite his kind nature. Determined to present his invention to the district collector, Senthil hopes to make a breakthrough—but fate has other plans in store for him.
The film’s visuals do an excellent job of capturing the rural charm of Thoothukudi, where the story is set. The heartwarming father-son dynamic is one of the film’s strongest points, making viewers deeply invest in their journey. Charlie’s performance is the film’s emotional core, seamlessly bringing Subbayya to life with a natural ease that elevates the entire narrative. His presence even manages to lift some of the weaker scenes. Jegan excels as the conflicted young man caught between pursuing his dream and seeking a stable government job. While Saranya Ravichandran delivers a solid performance, her character feels underdeveloped, and Aditi Balan makes a memorable cameo.
Lineman (AmazonPrimeVideo) Trailor :-
The film’s subtle approach to certain dramatic moments works in some instances but falls short in others. Some scenes could have benefitted from more emotional depth to truly resonate with the audience. The underdeveloped nature of a few characters weakens subplots that had the potential to elevate the story. While the portrayal of rural life feels authentic, the predictable character arcs of certain roles feel out of place. Nevertheless, the sincerity with which the film tells the real-life story of a determined individual is commendable. Lineman serves as a heartfelt tribute to those whose talents often go unnoticed.
