“Kuch Khattaa Ho Jaay” primarily revolves around three central characters: Ira Mishra, a determined and aspiring IAS officer; Heer Chawla, a carefree and jovial individual; and Brij Bhushan Chawla, Heer’s grandfather whose greatest desire is to become a great-grandfather. The pressure from their families prompts the young couple to tie the knot hastily, with the plan of feigning a pregnancy to allow Ira to focus on her studies. However, complications arise when their scheme leads to a cascade of misunderstandings, including a fake miscarriage and subsequent difficulties conceiving again.

Director G. Ashok’s comedy-drama unfolds within the backdrop of a bustling haveli filled with eccentric and boisterous family members, resulting in a formulaic narrative populated by predictable characters and situations. Penned by Raj Saluja, Niket Pandey, Vijay Pal Singh, and Shobhit Sinha, the storyline relies heavily on slapstick humor, incorporating puns and witty one-liners to elicit laughter. However, certain scenes, such as the comical misunderstanding involving an artificial baby belly mistaken for an adult diaper, feel contrived and lack genuine humor.

Set against the vibrant backdrop of Agra, cinematographers Jayesh Sen and R. M. Swamy capture the city’s beauty with finesse, showcasing iconic landmarks like Fatehpur Sikri and the Taj Mahal in stunning detail. The film’s soundtrack, featuring contributions from Guru Randhawa, Sachet-Parampara, Meet Bros, Nilesh Ahuja, and Sadhu Sushil Tiwari, offers a diverse mix of club bangers and romantic melodies, enhancing the overall cinematic experience.

While Saiee Manjrekar delivers a competent performance as Ira, Guru Randhawa charms as the affable Heer, showcasing a natural on-screen chemistry with his co-star. However, Randhawa’s inexperience in emotional scenes is apparent. Anupam Kher shines as the lively and affectionate grandfather, while Ila Arun delivers a memorable portrayal as the boisterous and maternal chachi. Paritosh Tripathi adds to the comedic flair as the snarky adopted son, while veteran actor Brahmanandam makes a noteworthy appearance as a flamboyant mafia don.

“Kuchh Khatta Ho Jaay” offers a generous dose of comedy and amusing one-liners throughout its 125-minute runtime. However, while the film succeeds in providing moments of laughter, its central plot and exaggerated events leave much to be desired in terms of depth and coherence.
