Krispy Rishtey (JioCinema) Review :-
A love quadrangle offers a rich narrative as the characters navigate their emotions amidst complex family dynamics and societal constraints. Writer-director Jagjit Singh’s romantic drama explores this theme through the lives of Karan and Anjali, who are pressured into marriage to satisfy their families—Karan’s father, Thakur Virendra Singh (Ravi Jhankal), and Anjali’s widowed mother, Gayatri (Shruti Ulfat). When Karan reignites his romance with his former love, Natasha, devoted Anjali takes it upon herself to reunite them. However, as Karan begins to develop feelings for Anjali, he ends things with Natasha. Just when it seems that everything is falling into place, Vinod from Anjali’s past reenters her life. The story unfolds as the four navigate their complicated relationships in search of their own happily ever after.
The premise of couples caught in arranged marriages while longing for their ex-lovers is a well-trodden path, and this film doesn’t bring much new to the table. The narrative struggles to maintain coherence as it shifts between the relationships of Karan-Anjali, Karan-Natasha, and Anjali-Vinod. Overly dramatic and prolonged scenes disrupt the film’s flow, with abrupt transitions that feel disjointed. For example, a scene at a resort features a guest randomly grabbing Natasha’s drink and consuming it, adding to the awkwardness. The filming is also lacking, with a bottle of fizzy apple drink being passed off as champagne. Singh and Afzal Shaikh’s editing results in many jarring cuts.
Karan’s love for Anjali feels underdeveloped, with most of their romantic moments presented in repetitive flashbacks. The film features 15 musical tracks by various artists, including Dhananjay Kherr and Jubin Nautiyal. While songs like “Raabta” and “Maula” are catchy, others fade into the background. Although the music is woven into the story, the sheer number of songs contributes to the already slow pace, making some scenes feel even more drawn out.
Krispy Rishtey (JioCinema) Trailor :-
Diljott brings promise to her portrayal of the simple and docile Anjali, though the character comes across as somewhat one-dimensional. Manmeet Kaur’s Natasha is volatile and often violent, presenting an intriguing arc that ultimately remains underexplored. Ronit Kapill’s spirited Vinod can become grating after a while, while Jagjit Singh delivers an average performance, shining only in certain moments.
The film struggles to maintain engagement in its first half, with the narrative only gaining momentum towards the end. The climax comes across as rushed and unconvincing. Krispy Rishtey presents a familiar story of love, sacrifice, and self-discovery, but is weighed down by its predictable plot, uneven editing, and an unsatisfactory climax, despite featuring some catchy musical numbers.
