According to the 2024 Rich List by the Sunday Times, King Charles has officially surpassed Queen Elizabeth II in wealth. The King of England now holds the 28th position with an estimated net worth of around $770 million. In contrast, Queen Elizabeth was estimated to have a net worth of $428 million. Following her passing in 2022, her assets were divided among her family members as specified in her will.

Who stands higher than King Charles on the Rich List?

One notable individual who outranks the monarch on the list is Hugh Grosvenor, the godfather of Prince George and the Duke of Westminster. His family’s wealth is valued at 12.8 billion, surpassing King Charles’ most valuable assets.

Among the monarch’s possessions are his palaces in Balmoral and Sandringham Estates in England. According to a former aide of King Charles, the monarch “successfully rebuilt his wealth by conserving profits from his former $1 billion estate, the Duchy of Cornwall, after his 1996 divorce from Princess Diana, which cost him $21 million.” Following Queen Elizabeth’s passing, the Duchy of Cornwall was inherited by Prince William.

King Charles officially ascended to the throne of England in May 2023 after his coronation on May 6th. The monarch and Queen Camilla commemorated their first coronation anniversary last week, albeit in a subdued manner, prioritizing the monarch’s health, as he was diagnosed with cancer in February.

King Charles public duties amidst cancer treatment

King Charles began fulfilling his public duties on April 30 despite undergoing cancer treatment. Alongside Queen Camilla, His Royal Highness visited the Macmillan Cancer Center to engage with patients and healthcare professionals. The King remained updated on the latest advancements in medical technology for early cancer detection.

In February, Buckingham Palace issued a statement disclosing the King’s health status, indicating that he would conduct his duties remotely until he deemed it appropriate to resume public engagements. Subsequently, Princess Kate revealed her own chemotherapy regimen following the detection of cancer post-abdominal surgery.
