“Khakee: The Bihar Chapter,” created by Neeraj Pandey, director of acclaimed films such as “Special 26,” “A Wednesday,” and “MS. Dhoni – The Untold Story,” is based on IPS officer Amit Lodha’s book, “Bihar Diaries – The True Story of How Bihar’s Most Dangerous Criminal Was Caught,” and spans the years 2000-2006. Drawing inspiration from real events, the series follows two parallel narratives: the journey of IPS officer Amit Lodha (Karan Tacker) through various postings across Bihar and the ascent of Chandan Mahto (Avinash Tiwary) from a humble truck driver to a feared gangster in the state.

Spread across seven episodes, the series offers a potent blend of crime, corruption, drama, and action. Director Bhav Dhulia and writer Umashankar Singh skillfully weave a narrative that builds suspense with each episode.
Early in the series, Amit Lodha, accompanied by his wife Tanu (Nikita Dutta), embarks on his first posting in Bihar. On the train, he receives a stark warning about the state’s unique challenges. His subsequent experiences, including a tense encounter with angry villagers, underscore the delicate balance he must maintain as a law enforcement officer committed to his ideals.
Meanwhile, Chandan Mahto, a struggling truck driver, becomes embroiled in criminal activities, leading to his entanglement with gangster Abhyuday Singh (Ravi Kishan). As political tensions rise in Bihar, Amit Lodha finds himself under pressure to contain the violence and apprehend Abhyuday Singh’s gang, including Chandan Mahto.
Caste divisions play a significant role in the narrative, particularly when Chandan faces betrayal and seeks refuge in newfound allies. Amidst political turmoil and escalating violence, Amit Lodha grapples with challenges to his integrity while navigating a perilous path to justice.
Narrated through the perspective of SHO Ranjan Kumar (Abhimanyu Singh), the series offers a compelling portrayal of the events leading to a climactic showdown between Amit Lodha and Chandan Mahto. Despite the absence of graphic violence, the narrative effectively conveys the brutality and consequences of crime.
Supported by a talented ensemble cast, including Ravi Kishan, Anup Soni, and Ashutosh Rana, the series delivers riveting performances across the board. Avinash Tiwary stands out with his nuanced portrayal of Chandan Mahto, capturing the character’s evolution with remarkable depth.
“Khakee: The Bihar Chapter” is a gripping thriller, skillfully crafted with slick production values, dynamic performances, and a captivating narrative. It promises to be a compelling weekend binge-watch for viewers craving high-stakes drama and intense action.
