Kaushaljis VS Kaushal (JioCinema) Review :-

The characters in Kaushaljis VS Kaushal come across as downright rude, no matter who they are. From the hypocritical son Yug to the parents, Sangeeta and Kaushal, who seem to trade harsh words at every opportunity, the constant negativity is hard to watch. Having just seen Mrs on Zee5, it’s even more frustrating to see both Yug and Kaushal belittle Sangeeta over trivial matters. The insults fly fast, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere where you’re left dreading the next hurtful comment. While the music is light and quirky, the on-screen tension feels disheartening rather than funny.

Sadly, this kind of family dynamic is all too familiar in many Indian households. My biggest issue is with Yug, who, despite living a “hip” and “modern” lifestyle, holds onto outdated and cringeworthy views. The real problem isn’t his struggle with his parents’ divorce, but the inappropriate and insensitive things he says in the process. The constant eye-rolling at the older generation’s lack of understanding of modern terms feels unnecessarily mean-spirited and cruel.

The dialogues and interactions, particularly among the younger generation, feel forced and inauthentic. Some moments come across as overly dramatic and clearly designed to manipulate the audience’s emotions. There are also several unnecessary and stretched-out scenes, with too many songs added to unnecessarily extend the runtime. At over two hours, the narrative could have been tighter and more focused, making its point more effectively. I also found the more subtle moments, especially Kiara’s conflicts and her involvement with Yug’s family, to fall flat. The conversations lack natural flow, making it feel less like a genuine unfolding of events and more like a scripted performance.

That being said, Ashutosh Rana and Sheeba Chaddha deliver standout performances. They bring a lot of energy to their roles, and while their bickering can get intense, it’s often entertaining, especially when they’re trying to impress Kiara. Their chaotic dynamic and strong chemistry make their scenes enjoyable to watch. Unfortunately, Pavail Gulati and Isha Talwar’s performances fall a bit flat in comparison, with their dialogue delivery sometimes feeling awkward. The ending also feels a bit forced, especially with the long monologue in front of a judge. However, Sheeba Chaddha truly shines in her role.

Kaushaljis VS Kaushal (JioCinema) Trailor :-

Final Thought

Kaushaljis VS Kaushal is an overly dramatic and exaggerated family film about a constantly bickering couple contemplating a breakup, with the added complexity of parenthood. While it has its funny moments and the chemistry between Chaddha and Rana is great, the film feels overly bloated. At over two hours, the lengthy runtime makes it hard to stay engaged for the full duration.
