Set in the aftermath of the 1993 Bombay blasts, “Kathmandu Connection” delves into three significant incidents occurring in the same year. These incidents—murder of Sandip Garg, abduction of Dharmendra Arora, and stalking of journalist Shivani Bhatnagar—are somehow linked to Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital. DCP Samarth Kaushik and CBI officer Hitesh Aggrawal embark on parallel investigations across borders to uncover the truth.
Director Sachin Pathak’s series sheds light on interconnected criminal cases possibly linked to the Bombay blasts. While the narrative explores intriguing storylines, the screenplay initially struggles to connect the dots cohesively. However, the latter part of the series picks up momentum with twists and turns to captivate viewers.
Amit Sial delivers a standout performance as DCP Samarth, portraying his multi-layered character with authenticity. He is supported by Anurag Arora as police superintendent Sharvan Mishra and Gopal Datt as CBI Officer Hitesh Aggrawal. Aksha Pardasany and Anshumaan Pushkar deliver decent performances, albeit lacking natural chemistry on screen.
Despite its flaws, “Kathmandu Connection” offers a compelling cat-and-mouse chase, albeit with occasional inconsistencies. Overall, it’s a decent one-time watch with hints for potential future seasons.
