Kartam Bhugtam Movie Review :-

What goes around, comes around. This fundamental rule of life often motivates individuals to do the right thing. The age-old adage, “As you sow, so shall you reap,” encapsulates the essence of karma and guides us through life’s challenges. Writer-director Soham P. Shah builds on this simple yet profound concept to craft a realistic story about a man whose life takes a dramatic turn after meeting Anna (Vijay Raaz), a revered astrologer known for his accurate predictions.

Inside his palatial villa, resonating with Vedic chants, Anna sits cross-legged in a dark, imposing room, delivering blunt prophecies to those seeking guidance. He not only foresees their futures but also offers straightforward solutions to avert looming crises.

Dev Joshi (Shreyas Talpade), an NRI intent on consolidating his late father’s assets and returning to New Zealand to restart his life after the impact of COVID, is skeptical of such superstitions. He dismisses Anna’s prediction that he won’t be able to leave India easily. Dev’s sole aim is to sell his ancestral assets, fulfill his father’s dream, and start his own venture. However, destiny has other plans, and Anna’s words prove true each time Dev encounters obstacles in his mission.

Executed with a taut screenplay, this psychological thriller keeps the audience engaged with a steady flow of unexpected twists in Dev’s life. The events are relatable and domestic, reflecting common situations we encounter when dealing with banks, lenders, civic authorities, and property matters. Set in a small Indian town, Shah captures the essence of the locale with its slow-paced life and practical problems.

The strength of the narrative rests on the shoulders of two adept performers—Shreyas Talpade and Vijay Raaz—who deliver convincing performances. Madhoo is well-cast as a God-fearing South Indian teacher and Anna’s docile housewife, though her role could have benefited from more depth to make it more impactful. Aksha Pardasany provides solid support as Dev’s girlfriend, Jiya.

With no unnecessary songs or frills, Kartam Bhugram maintains a consistent pace. While the loud background score could have been toned down, the film thankfully avoids jarring theatrics or unwanted drama, proving its point in a straightforward manner. At times, it might seem overly simplistic, but this simplicity is also its strength, emphasizing how Karma eventually catches up with you, no matter how far you run.

All in all, Kartam Bhugram is an entertaining slice-of-life thriller that delivers a strong message without straying from its core.
