“Everything you see wants to kill you, and can,” warns Frank Wolff, the skipper of the jungle cruise, known for its thrills and cheap tricks. Despite his tactics to entertain passengers, he meets his match in the determined Dr.

Lily, who is relentless in her pursuit of the extraordinary.

Joined by her brother McGregor (Jack Whitehall), they seek the Tree of Life, believed to possess extraordinary healing powers that could revolutionize medicine forever.

With a simple yet action-packed plot, “Jungle Cruise” suffers from the involvement of too many writers, resulting in a film that feels disjointed at times. Director Jaume Collet-Serra borrows elements from various action genres, striving to deliver an immersive cinematic experience akin to the theme park ride. However, the film’s emphasis on spectacle outweighs its depth, with an overabundance of characters and CGI that falls short.

Despite its flaws, the film benefits from its star-studded cast. Dwayne Johnson brings his trademark charm and physicality to the role of Frank Wolff, while Emily Blunt delivers a spirited performance as the adventurous Dr. Lily. Their chemistry on screen is palpable, complemented by Jack Whitehall’s supporting role. However, the character of Prince Joachim, portrayed by Jesse Plemons, feels exaggerated and out of place.

“Jungle Cruise” offers a cinematic experience best enjoyed on the big screen, with its grand set pieces and star power. While it may not meet all expectations, it still provides an entertaining ride for those willing to overlook its shortcomings.
