Janhvi Kapoor, currently busy promoting her upcoming film, Mr & Mrs Mahi, recently shared insights into her wardrobe choices, admitting to donning rented attire and jewelry.
Janhvi Kapoor, set to star opposite Rajkummar Rao in Mr & Mrs Mahi, has been lauded for her impeccable style. Recently, she caught attention with her ‘method dressing’ approach, incorporating elements of her character from the cricket-themed film. At the trailer launch, she dazzled in a red jersey blouse paired with royal blue, captivating onlookers. Despite her fashion accolades, Janhvi openly embraces wearing rented clothes, considering it a contribution towards sustainability.
During a recent appearance on Mashable India‘s The Bombay Journey, Janhvi confessed to frequently adorning rented attire sourced by her stylists. She revealed that even the ensemble she wore for the episode was rented. “Whenever stylists request clothes, they’re usually rented. The shoes and rings are mine, but the necklace, bracelets, and shirt are borrowed. They’re all on rent!” she candidly disclosed.
The Dhadak actor explained that while outfits and accessories are tailored to her, once an event concludes, her stylists return the clothes, shoes, and jewelry. “Of course, these are customized for me, but they’ve all been rented. This entire look is put together by renting clothes and accessories. We have to return them. Does that qualify as being sustainable?” she questioned.
The Dhadak actor further expressed her willingness to repeat outfits. “I repeat clothes. I have one night suit which I refuse to let go of. It has the face of my favorite embossed on it,” she shared.
Janhvi’s contemporary and friend Sara Ali Khan also endorsed repeating clothes and wearing rented items. “I’ve been wearing the same white clothes ever since I can remember. I wear whatever is given to me on rent, so here’s hoping it is sustainable!” she conveyed to iDiva in a 2020 interview.
