I Want to Talk Review :-
Initially in denial, Arjun’s traumatic health crisis dulls the pain of everything else in his life, including his broken marriage and financial ruin. What follows are countless hospital visits and an uncertain future, putting his relationship with his daughter, Reya, to the ultimate test.
Arjun is battered, but not broken. Shoojit Sircar’s (Piku, October) storytelling approach carries a subtle, almost detached quality that grows on you over time. Much like life itself, emotions aren’t always openly spoken or expressed. There are moments of silence and long pauses that may seem like emotional distance, but they are Sircar’s way of guiding you toward a breaking point you didn’t anticipate. The film’s progression is quietly deliberate, yet you find yourself drawn into every moment.

At its core, the film explores more than just a remarkable survival story. It delves into the father-daughter dynamic, the doctor-patient bond, and the unsettling anticipation of death, which—like in Piku—turns out to be more daunting than death itself. While Arjun is fiercely independent, Reya’s emotional struggles and outbursts will resonate with anyone who has cared for a loved one. The realization that even caregivers need care is profoundly moving, embodied by Arjun’s nurse and friend, Nancy (Kristin Goodard).
Despite the heavy themes, the film maintains an optimistic and casual tone. It acknowledges the endurance of pain and suffering without sensationalizing it. Arjun’s experience—dealing with hospital bills, surgeries, and the uncertainty of life—unfolds simply, allowing his extraordinary courage to shine without demanding attention or sympathy. The film’s unconventional yet effective cinematic approach makes its impact all the more powerful.
I Want to Talk Trailor :-
Spending most of his time at home or in the hospital, Arjun and Reya’s rare outings by the lake, accompanied by their heart-to-heart conversations, offer a sense of relief. Abhishek Bachchan delivers a masterful performance in this survival story, bringing Arjun to life with his witty banter and humor while never losing sight of the gravity of the situation. Ahilya Bamroo, making her film debut after gaining popularity on social media for her language and accent reels, is perfectly cast as Reya. She portrays a character who cares deeply but refuses to be consumed by grief, making her an exceptional discovery. Jayant Kripalani, as Dr. Deb, adds moments of lightness to the film, and it’s a delight to see Johnny Lever on screen, even in a small role.
In literary terms, I Want to Talk may not be a fast-paced page-turner, but it’s far from a sob story. Instead, it serves as a reminder that we are often far stronger than we realize.
