Housefull 5 Review :-
The Housefull franchise is built on slapstick comedy, so you go in knowing exactly what to expect. Akshay Kumar slapping CGI monkeys, girls being blatantly objectified, and Riteish Deshmukh gobbling up a parrot as irritating as the one in Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon don’t come as surprises. You chuckle at cheesy lines like “Thokte raho… Taaliya” and “mera popat kabhi nahi uthega,” and overlook the cringe because that’s just part of the brand’s charm. What truly catches you off guard, however, is the complete absence of genuine humor— not even the dirty kind— in the script, along with the total waste of a star-studded cast known for their impeccable comic timing.

Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, Housefull 5 is a far cry from the witty humor he showcased in Dostana. This film desperately needed a solid script, or at least stronger writing. Stretching to 2 hours and 45 minutes—far too long for a whodunnit comedy—the dull first half is cluttered with random songs, pointless arguments, childish jabs, and loud noise—anything but genuine humor. You find yourself craving real comic punches. Even the appearances of Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff as baba and bhidu feel out of place. It’s disappointing to see such talented actors reduced to caricatures of their former selves.

The film only begins to pick up pace in the second half, truly shaking off its sluggishness much too late—in the climax. That’s also when Nana Patekar makes his entrance. A seasoned master of the genre (think Control Uday from Welcome), Patekar steals the show as a dhoti-clad Interpol chief based in London but deeply rooted in Maharashtra. He brings much-needed energy and gravitas to this overloaded, off-track cruise chaos.
Producer Sajid Nadiadwala attempts to blend comedy with a murder mystery in his script but falters at both—except for the final 20 minutes. It’s Nana’s arrival and the climax that finally deliver the entertainment Housefull 5 promised: thrilling, unpredictable, and funny. Nadiadwala does manage to keep the killer’s identity under wraps until the very end, but the humor sadly falls flat throughout most of the film.
Housefull 5 Trailor :-
Except for Riteish, who manages to entertain, both Abhishek Bachchan and Akshay Kumar are given very little to work with in terms of dialogue or character. The women’s roles mostly revolve around adding glamour and being the targets of numerous adult jokes, offering little substance beyond that. Sonam Bajwa, Fardeen Khan, and Dino Morea deliver sensible performances despite the weak material. Meanwhile, Shreyas Talpade, Johnny Lever, and Chunky Panday are completely wasted—Talpade, in particular, nearly disappears for a large part of the film. But then again, expecting logic from this movie is a lost cause.
Final Thought
The film offers two alternate endings, 5A and 5B, each revealing a different killer while the rest of the story remains unchanged. Either version works, but if you have to pick one, 5A is the better choice.
