Hostel Days follows the lives of six engineering students navigating the ups and downs of hostel life. Sai (portrayed by Darahas Maturu), Chitharanjan Bhattacharya (Mouli), and Naveen Yadav (Akshay Lagusani) share a room, while Theppa finally secures his admission after a four-year struggle. Kavya (Aishwarya Hollakal) and Rithika (Jaiyetri Makana), with their differing personalities, also add depth to the story. The series delves into the myriad experiences these six individuals encounter during their time in the hostel, forming the crux of the narrative.

A standout aspect of the show is the portrayal of Sai’s character. Darahas Maturu brings depth and authenticity to the role, making it highly relatable for many viewers. His sincere and natural performance serves as the series’ greatest strength. The plot gains momentum in the middle, especially with Sai’s romantic storyline taking center stage, featuring some charming moments.

The final episode is particularly entertaining, as the students attempt to cram for their M1 exam the day before. Mouli Tanuj Prasanth, known for his humorous social media videos, delivers a commendable performance. Additionally, Akshay Lagusani, Anannyaa Akulaa, Aishwarya Hollakal, and Jaiyetri Makana shine in their respective roles.

However, the series starts off slowly, with a sluggish narrative until the middle portions. The first two episodes lack significant development, and scenes like ragging are presented in a conventional manner, failing to evoke much excitement.

While the show has its moments of humor, some jokes miss the mark. The second episode, ‘The Rakshakudu,’ falls flat and fails to elicit the intended laughter.

Sidhartha Sadasivuni’s music and Fahad Abdul Majeed’s cinematography contribute positively to the series, with a memorable song and neat visuals. The production values are satisfactory, and the editing improves from the third episode onwards.

Aditya Mandala’s direction shows effort in exploring the inner struggles of the female lead, a commendable aspect of the series. However, the casting and pacing in the initial episodes could have been stronger. While the humor works in parts, it falls short of delivering consistently.

Overall, Hostel Days offers some enjoyable moments scattered throughout. The performances are commendable, but the series truly picks up momentum only in its middle portions. While some comedic scenes land well, others struggle to generate laughs, resulting in Hostel Days being a moderately entertaining watch for the weekend.
