Host 2025 Review :-

The Thai film Host is another take on school bullying, featuring Veerinsara Tungkitsuvanich—the same actress I saw just a few hours ago in Attack 13. While the two films are completely different, it’s hard not to notice the coincidence of seeing her in multiple stories that mix school bullying with a hint of the supernatural!

Either way, I thoroughly enjoyed watching Host on Prime Video for what it is—an intense exploration of bullying and its consequences, with karma ready to strike when you least expect it. Leading the bullying is Aim, a young woman manipulated by the authoritarian school principal into tormenting other students in exchange for her own freedom. Enter Ing, a new student with a troubled past, and a formidable guardian determined to protect her at any cost.

The folklore in Host is compelling, and placing it within a school setting creates a tense, gripping atmosphere. The production quality is excellent, and the isolated lighthouse adds to the sense of unease. While most of the scares are fairly predictable, it’s the combination of setting, folklore, and bullying that makes for a somewhat enjoyable experience. The ghost effects are genuinely creepy, though getting too close can lessen the tension.

The film also offers strong social commentary, portraying a power-hungry principal exploiting young girls on a remote island who are unaware of the danger around them. The overall tone is dark and morose, immersing viewers in the same fear and hopelessness the girls experience daily.

Host 2025 Trailor :-

Perth Veerinsara Tangkitsuvanich delivers a fantastic performance as Aim, convincingly portraying a desperate young woman eager to start her life anew. Both she and Baipor Thitiya Jirapornsilp as Ing evoke empathy, as each has been pushed to their limits in very different ways. There’s no clear path to victory and no simple solution, which is what makes the film such a poignant and heartrending watch.

Final Thought

The scares and thrills in Prime Video’s Host may be fairly generic, but it’s the underlying story that keeps you engaged. The excellent production quality only adds to the experience. Sometimes, a familiar horror formula can be oddly comforting when executed well—and that’s exactly the feeling I got from Host!
