Homecoming Story :-
We all have that group of friends – the poet, the wild one, the level-headed one, the singer, the drama queen, the carefree soul, and the talented one. In every circle, there’s the glue that holds everyone together and there’s the one who seems detached, willing to risk the bonds of friendship without a second thought. It’s this familiarity of characters that forms the strongest connection in #Homecoming.

Years ago, during their college days, a diverse group of friends formed a radical theatre troupe. Flashbacks hint at the revolutionary impact of their daring productions, stirring the hearts of young audiences. However, as the film poignantly notes, “reality checks in once college is over.” The group disperses, each member grappling with their own sense of denial. Many years later, scattered across California, Mumbai, and Kolkata, they reunite for one last gathering at their old rehearsal space, Rasta, which may soon be sold.
#Homecoming unfolds the myriad emotions of that one fateful night. Through a non-linear narrative, it delves into the past while tethering us to the present reality. Will this reunion bring joy or unearth buried ghosts from their shared history? That’s the question that keeps you hooked.
An intimate portrayal of interpersonal relationships, #Homecoming delves into the emotional journeys of a generation that goes beyond hashtags and instant gratification. These are individuals who once aspired to change the world through their art. While the script adeptly weaves together their stories, the weight of an ensemble cast becomes apparent. Some characters, like those portrayed by Sayan Ghosh (Srijit) and Subhra Sourabh Das (Papai), are left underdeveloped. The pacing dips after the first hour, and the ending feels somewhat predictable. Despite featuring a cast of national actors, the film remains firmly rooted in Kolkata, limiting its broader appeal.
However, #Homecoming shines in its realistic art direction and seamless integration of music, including the evocative track “Haatyar” by Mou Sultana. The talented ensemble cast delivers convincing performances, with Sayani Gupta and Plabita Borthakur standing out. Hussain Dalal captivates as Imroze, the singer still harboring feelings for Sri (Sayani), while Soham, portrayed by Apratim Chatterjee, steals the show as the earnest organizer striving to reignite their collective passion.
Ultimately, #Homecoming is a film for the youth, urging them to embrace their inner artists and resist the pull of cynicism. It serves as a reminder that the journey is far from over, offering hope for those still seeking their place in the world.
