Hisaab Barabar (Zee5) Review :-
The issue with Hisaab Barabar is that at times it comes across as caricatured. The film aims to highlight the significant impact of bank fraud in India, which is commendable. It breaks down this complex topic in an intriguing and thought-provoking manner, which is to its credit. However, the comedy often falls flat, leaving viewers more irritated than amused.
Following the story of Radhe Mohan, an honest and diligent railways TC, there are moments, especially in the first half, that could have been trimmed down. The film seems torn between being a mass entertainer and delivering a social message, which results in significant shortcomings. The comedy and lighter moments, including unnecessary romantic interludes, feel outdated and can grate on the nerves. The humor often resorts to old-fashioned antics that seem out of place in today’s context, occasionally approaching the level of juvenile humor.
Consequently, the film fails to effectively convey its intriguing social message. Initially, I was engrossed when it depicted the mechanics of the fraud and Radhe Mohan’s contemplation on the matter. However, it quickly loses focus and digresses into unrelated topics. Neil Nitin Mukesh’s portrayal of Micky Mehra exacerbates the issue, feeling more like a caricatured Disney villain due to his superficial dialogue delivery. This superficiality undermines any sense of seriousness or impact.
Additionally, the film incessantly repeats the phrase “hisaab barabar” as if to overexplain the plot, which becomes tiresome and diminishes the narrative’s maturity. The lack of subtlety further contributes to the film’s inability to feel genuine or profound. For instance, scenes like the police playing ludo while discussing serious matters detract from the film’s credibility and leave little room for audience interpretation. Ultimately, these factors lead the film to become tedious and overly preachy.
However, I must highlight that R Madhavan delivers a fantastic performance as Radhe Mohan, and he’s perhaps one of the main reasons I found enjoyment in watching the film. He portrays Radhe Mohan with warmth and analytical depth, making him a character you naturally root for. His logical mindset, combined with a strong commitment to uncovering the truth, sets him apart.
In contrast, as mentioned earlier, the other characters unfortunately come across as caricatures. They seem forced into the story for their specific roles rather than naturally integrating into Radhe Mohan’s life, which feels somewhat awkward.

Final Thought
Hisaab Barabar has a commendable intention behind it. The story is compelling and delivers a strong social message. However, the execution falls short, occasionally veering into silliness. The film tends to overexplain every detail and injects unnecessary humor, which detracts from the gravity of the main storyline. Ultimately, I believe the film would have been more effective with a more serious tone, trimming unnecessary elements and focusing on characters that truly drive the plot forward.
