Director Sahir Raza, known for his previous ventures in somber dramas like ‘Illegal—Justice Out of Order (2020)’ and ‘The Married Woman (2021)’, takes a departure into lighter territory with this breezy romantic comedy. The series spans four parts, each comprising 30-minute episodes, delivering a predictable yet charming viewing experience.
The plot orbits around Inaya, freshly severed from her relationship with a boyfriend who deserted her on the highway. Here, she encounters Kartik, alias Dhun Dhun, en route to Mahabaleshwar to rendezvous with his parents when a flat tire strands him. Inaya steps into the picture, offering her assistance, thus initiating an unforeseen connection. Despite their stark differences, an instantaneous bond forms, propelling them into a captivating journey together.
Gayatri Bhardwaj and Ritvik Sahore reunite on screen following their previous stint in the rom-com web series ‘Ishq Express (2022)’, showcasing a palpable chemistry. Bhardwaj’s portrayal of a spirited and assertive character eclipses Sahore’s depiction of a reserved individual. Their performances exude authenticity and grounding. However, the plausibility of such a scenario in reality raises questions. While many have encountered strangers who evolved into close confidants, the idea of meeting a romantic interest on a highway seems far-fetched.
Dhun Dhun’s boisterous friends, Sahil and Meera, portrayed by Vvansh Sethi and Gunit Cour respectively, add a dash of loudness to the show, embodying an inseparable couple overflowing with affection.
Themes of priorities, love, emotions, and communication subtly weave into the narrative, albeit without delving deeply. Despite its simplistic approach, viewers may find themselves sympathizing and relating to the characters, if not their trials and tribulations.
As the curtains draw on this unhurried drama, viewers are left with a sense of contentment akin to the comforting familiarity of burger and fries, attributed to the engaging performances of Ritvik Sahore and Gayatri Bhardwaj throughout their extensive highway expedition.
