Directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, the creative duo behind A Quiet Place, the film ventures beyond traditional boundaries. With strong performances and a thought-provoking concept, Heretic weaves psychological tension with a deep dive into faith, doubt, and the power structures within belief systems. While its ambition is clear, the film struggles to maintain its initial momentum, leaving the experience compelling yet uneven. What starts as casual conversations about faith, morality, and pop culture quickly escalates into a chilling psychological confrontation.
Hugh Grant’s portrayal of Mr. Reed is a standout. Renowned for his charming, self-deprecating roles, Grant flips his usual persona, delivering a performance that is both captivating and unnerving.
