Gal Gadot’s portrayal of Rachel and her team’s pursuit of a vengeful hacker, played by Alia Bhatt as Keya Dhawan, forms the core of this spy thriller. Set against the backdrop of various international locations such as London, Iceland, Portugal, and Italy, the film explores themes of espionage, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the complexities of a global spy agency untethered to any particular country or ideology. While these themes may seem familiar, the film attempts to infuse them with fresh perspectives and twists.

The premise of strong, independent women leading the charge in espionage without resorting to underhanded tactics is intriguing. However, despite its promising setup, the film struggles to maintain momentum and falls short of delivering a truly gripping narrative. Tom Harper’s direction fails to establish a compelling chemistry between the lead characters, resulting in lackluster dialogue delivery and banter. Alia Bhatt’s performance as Keya feels hesitant and inexperienced, while Jamie Dornan appears disinterested in his role.

Gal Gadot’s presence injects some energy into the film, with her portrayal of Rachel exuding strength and sassiness reminiscent of her iconic role as Wonder Woman. However, even her charismatic performance cannot fully salvage the film from its shortcomings. While the action sequences shot in Lisbon and Iceland offer brief moments of excitement, the overall pacing feels sluggish, and the plot lacks depth and emotional resonance.

In the larger landscape of action-thriller films, ‘Heart of Stone’ struggles to stand out amidst a sea of similar offerings. While it has its moments, particularly in its action set pieces, the film ultimately fails to leave a lasting impression on the audience. Furthermore, its reliance on a formulaic approach to storytelling and casting, including the token inclusion of Indian actors, feels contrived and uninspired.

Overall, ‘Heart of Stone’ may appeal to fans of Gal Gadot, but for those seeking a truly engaging spy thriller experience, it falls short of expectations. While the film attempts to capitalize on the popularity of the action-spy genre, it ultimately lacks the depth and originality needed to leave a lasting impact. Viewers eager for a more substantial and meaningful cinematic experience may find themselves disappointed by this forgettable offering.
