Gyaarah Gyaarah (Zee5) Review :-
The Indian adaptation of the Korean hit ‘Signal,’ titled ‘Gyaarah Gyaarah,’ effectively captures the spirit of its predecessor. The unique premise features two police officers communicating across time through a walkie-talkie that activates at 11:11 PM for a brief 60 seconds, allowing them to solve both past and present crimes together. The drama is further elevated by a strong cast, including Raghav Juyal, Kritika Kamra, and Dhairya Karwa, who deliver solid performances. While the show experiences some pacing inconsistencies, it remains an intense and captivating watch throughout.
Set in the mystical hills of Uttarakhand, the story begins 15 years ago when a young girl named Aditi (Azaya Seth) is abducted from a fair, and a young witness, Yug (Yug Pandya), sees the crime unfold. Shortly after, Aditi is found dead, and the police fail to identify the perpetrator. Her mother, Sanjana Tiwari (Gautami Kapoor), tirelessly fights for justice as the years pass. Fast forward fifteen years, and Yug (Raghav Juyal) has become a police officer determined to seek justice for Aditi. However, his efforts seem fruitless until he discovers a walkie-talkie that enables him to communicate with Shaurya Anthwal (Dhairya Karwa) from the past. Meanwhile, Inspector Vamika Rawat (Kritika Kamra) is tasked with solving Aditi’s murder before the government closes all unsolved cases older than 15 years. Will she and her team succeed in cracking the case?

‘Gyaarah Gyaarah’ begins with a compelling premise: a cop from the present day (2016) discovers a walkie-talkie that connects him to a cop from the past (1990). This setup creates immediate intrigue as viewers are drawn into uncovering the connections between past and present events. The two central characters are a major highlight of the drama; you’ll quickly become invested in their journey as they tackle both the cases and their personal mysteries. The plot is robust, weaving through various storylines while keeping the focus on the central trio and their major storyline.
Raghav Juyal delivers an outstanding performance as an impulsive and determined cop who has an uncanny ability to read body language accurately. His character, Yug, quickly resonates with viewers, drawing them into his relentless pursuit of justice and keeping them engaged throughout his struggle.
Initially, Kritika Kamra’s character, Vamika, seems scattered, with her backstory and connection to Anthwal overshadowed by her portrayal as a wide-eyed new officer joining the police department. However, as the story unfolds, Vamika evolves into a savvy, independent, and resolute police officer who is dedicated to solving the case and supporting her team. Kamra effectively conveys both her character’s initial vulnerability and her growth into a formidable investigator.
Dhairya Karwa convincingly portrays the dedicated cop Anthwal, matching Yug’s intensity. The supporting cast, including Gautami Kapoor, Harsh Chhaya, Purnendu Bhattacharya, and Mukti Mohan, also play crucial roles in advancing the narrative.
In this eight-episode crime thriller, which promises to reveal more about the past and present in its next season, the frequent flashbacks occasionally disrupt the drama’s pacing. Nevertheless, director Umesh Bist adeptly manages the multiple timelines, maintaining a consistent tone throughout the series. The storytelling is compelling, with each era distinctly portrayed, immersing viewers in the respective periods. While the plot does slow down at times, it remains a solid drama for fans of the time travel genre.
