The ensemble cast also includes Bartlomiej Kotschedoff, Folco Marchi, Jedrzej Hycnar, Karolina Piechota, Lukasz Simlat, and Stanislaw Linowski. The series is directed by Anna Kazejak, Julia Kolberger, Marek Lechki, and Rafal Skalski.

Set against the backdrop of prostitution, the series introduces us to three women of different ages: Helena, Pola, and Marysia. Each woman is entangled in varying stages of the sex trade, driven by the need to support their families and pursue personal ambitions. As the episodes progress, we witness their pasts unfold and learn more about their characters. Notably, Pola (Wiktoria Filus) endeavors to escape the profession and establish an independent business.

However, the pervasive influence of men perpetuates their involvement in the sex trade, trapping them in a cycle of exploitation and financial dependence. Helena (Magdalena Poplawska), the eldest of the trio, is tasked with blackmailing influential individuals to gather sensitive information for higher-ranking officials.

Meanwhile, the youngest, Marysia (Matylda Giegzno), indulges in a turbulent relationship with her on-and-off partner Jurek, defying authority and commands along the way.

The narrative of Glitter revolves around these three parallel storylines until they intersect with the secretive world of prostitution and blackmail orchestrated by the secret services.

While Glitter has the potential to be a compelling erotic thriller, it leans more towards drama, prioritizing detailed character development. The series initially establishes the motives and aspirations of each woman but subsequently delves into extended montages of introspection.

Notably, Helena’s character receives more extensive exploration, with cinematic sequences showcasing her emotions and experiences, a treatment lacking for the other characters. Pola’s struggle to establish herself in the perfume business and Marysia’s journey also warrant more attention.

Overall, Glitter presents a commendable effort in delivering character-driven drama but becomes bogged down by overly complex subplots. Despite strong performances, the series lacks elements to captivate viewers beyond initial character introductions.

While Glitter offers a decent viewing experience, it falls short of fully realizing its potential. The series takes too long to reveal its hidden depths, leaving audiences craving a more fulfilling exploration of its characters and themes.
