From the outset, with each passing episode, the series gradually delves into the struggles of Anjana Menon (Kirti Kulhari), Damini Rizvi Roy (Sayoni Gupta), Siddhi Mehta (Maanvi Gagroo), and Umang Singh (Gurbani Judge) as they confront their emotional burdens while attempting to move forward. In its third installment, the protagonists, along with other key characters, grapple with loss, feelings of displacement, and the quest for closure from unresolved pasts.
Director Joyeeta Patpatia maintains the essence of the previous seasons while delving deeper into the women’s journey of shedding baggage and forging ahead. Thanks to the consistent writing of Devika Bhagat and Ishita Moitra, each character embarks on a unique path while navigating their emotional upheavals. Themes of denial, confrontation, acceptance, insecurity, self-doubt, and solitude are skillfully explored throughout the season.
However, at times, the predictability of plot developments and their outcomes detracts from the viewing experience. The pace of the episodes significantly slows down midway, leading to waning interest. The final episode feels rushed in its attempt to tie up loose ends and ignite curiosity about the characters’ future trajectories. Certain conveniences introduced in the narrative diminish engagement, leaving one pondering the potential for a braver and bolder storytelling approach.
What truly captivates throughout the ten episodes is the stellar performances delivered by the key cast. Sayoni, Kirti, Gurbani, Maanvi, and Simone embody their characters with authenticity and depth, enriching the season with their nuanced portrayals. Notable newcomers like Shilpa Shukla, Jim Sarbh, and Rohan Mehra leave a lasting impression despite limited screen time. The cinematography, strategic use of locations, and Mikey McCleary’s music enhance the storytelling, sensitively handled by Joyeeta.
Overall, while this season of the show falls short of its potential for greater impact and storytelling depth, it still offers moments of resonance and insight. It serves up a round of shots that could have been more spirited, yet remains an engaging watch.
