The series offers unprecedented access to the inner workings of four AFLW clubs: Adelaide Crows, Collingwood, GWS Giants, and Western Bulldogs. Cameras were rolling in April 2022 to capture the historic victory of the Adelaide Crows as they clinched their third AFLW premiership.
Kylie Watson-Wheeler, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of The Walt Disney Company in Australia and New Zealand, expressed excitement about the series, calling it the first of nine Australian originals set to premiere on Disney+ in the coming year. She praised the documentary for offering a world-first glimpse into the AFLW and its significance as a powerhouse movement for women in sport. The series celebrates the journey of trailblazing women who are among the first to play Australian Rules Football professionally, showcasing their extraordinary efforts in paving the way for future generations and pursuing football glory in their own unique ways.
Kylie Rogers, Executive General Manager Customer & Commercial at AFL, commended the documentary for capturing the essence of AFLW. She highlighted the mixture of pure emotion, hard-hitting footy action, and the highs and lows of football that the series encapsulates, offering viewers a front-row seat to the excitement of AFLW.
Executive Producer Anne-Maree Sparkman expressed gratitude for the opportunity to delve into the inner sanctum of AFLW teams, describing it as a magical and honorable experience. She anticipated that viewers would be captivated by the dedication, bravery, humor, and raw emotions displayed by the footballers throughout the series, which follows four teams over the course of an entire season.
