For over two decades, the Fast and the Furious franchise has served up the same ingredients with minor tweaks: fast cars, underworld drama, cops, and a strong emphasis on family dynamics. While the series has seen its fair share of additions and departures, including notable actors like Dwayne Johnson, Charlize Theron, and now Jason Momoa, the formula remains largely unchanged.

Despite its chaotic and overcrowded plot, Jason Momoa injects much-needed energy into the film with his portrayal of the comically psychotic villain, Dante Reyes. Momoa’s performance adds a layer of insanity and humor to the character, making him a memorable addition to the franchise. However, while Reyes is vindictive and ruthless, he lacks the menacing presence one would expect from his Joker-esque persona.
The plot, while largely inconsequential, revolves around Toretto’s team being framed for a bomb explosion orchestrated by drug kingpin Dante Reyes. As the agency turns against them, Toretto and his crew must navigate a series of explosive action sequences to clear their names and protect their family.
Director Louis Leterrier delivers a spectacle of explosions and car chases that demand minimal emotional investment from the audience. While the film offers mindless popcorn entertainment in abundance, it lacks any significant novelty factor. Each installment in the series feels interchangeable, leading to a sense of repetition and fatigue among viewers.
While Fast X delivers on its promise of high-octane action, it ultimately fails to offer anything new or innovative. As the franchise approaches its inevitable end, one can’t help but wonder why it has been allowed to continue for so long without evolving or reinventing itself.
