The dance-pop marvel comprises 11 captivating tracks, drawing inspiration from Dua Lipa’s personal journey of self-discovery and the delights of independence.
Renowned global pop sensation, Dua Lipa, a recipient of 3 Grammy Awards and 7 Brit Awards, unveils her much-anticipated third album, ‘Radical Optimism.’ The album boasts 11 songs, including the pulsating ‘Illusion‘ and the euphoric club anthem ‘Houdini.’
“I penned this album during a period of singledom,” Dua reveals. “Every studio session began with a humorous anecdote, each serving as inspiration for different tracks. There’s an openness and authenticity here that I hadn’t explored previously.” Collaborating closely with a team of core partners such as Caroline Ailin, Danny L. Harle, Tobias Jesso Jr., and Kevin Parker, Dua crafted the album.
“Everyone’s unique backgrounds and creative approaches blended seamlessly, both as friends and musically,” Dua adds. “We fostered an environment of openness, where I could candidly discuss my experiences. The musical tapestry felt vibrant and dynamic, and I was eager to immerse myself fully in the process.”
Describing ‘Radical Optimism‘ as “psychedelic pop,” Dua Lipa notes that the album features musical breaks and a diverse mix of sounds, creating a visually immersive experience when listened to with closed eyes. Inspired by her own journey of self-discovery, the album encapsulates the pure joy and happiness of gaining clarity in seemingly impossible situations.
Rolling Stone lauds the album as “pop bliss,” highlighting its characteristic Dua Lipa flair: confident dance-pop infused with clever, Instagram-caption-ready one-liners.
Returning to Saturday Night Live on May 4, Dua Lipa takes on the dual role of host and musical guest. Her last appearance on SNL in 2020 featured performances of ‘Don’t Start Now‘ and ‘Levitating‘ alongside her sketch debut as Marjorie.
Recently announcing the initial tour dates in support of ‘Radical Optimism‘, Dua Lipa sold out shows in Berlin, Pula, and Nimes for June. Additionally, she is set to headline the Friday night slot at this year’s Glastonbury Festival on June 28th and perform at London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall on October 17, with both events selling out immediately.
