In Drishyam 2, the sequel to the acclaimed thriller Drishyam, we find Vijay Salgaonkar (portrayed by Ajay Devgn) still haunted by the events that unfolded years ago. Emerging from a police station with a shovel in hand, Vijay’s past resurfaces when the police decide to reinvestigate the case of Sameer Deshmukh, a missing person from years prior. The existence of a witness to the almost-perfect crime ignites fresh interest in the case, propelling the authorities to revisit the investigation with renewed vigor.

Life for Vijay and his family has ostensibly moved on. Vijay now operates a theater and harbors aspirations of bringing his own story to the silver screen. His daughters, Anju and Anu, navigate the challenges of adolescence while grappling with the trauma of their past. Meanwhile, his wife Nandini strives to maintain a sense of normalcy amidst the lingering fear that threatens to engulf them.

As the investigation unfolds, the once-unwavering support Vijay received from his community begins to wane. Doubts emerge, casting suspicion on his innocence and prompting questions about his involvement in the crime. The Salgaonkar family finds themselves thrust back into the spotlight, their lives upended once more by the relentless pursuit of truth.

The narrative unfolds gradually, with director Abhishek Pathak skillfully building tension and suspense. Each character serves a distinct purpose, contributing to the intricate web of drama and intrigue. Ajay Devgn shines as Vijay, portraying a protective father with a sharp intellect and unwavering determination. Akshaye Khanna delivers a compelling performance as the investigating officer, infusing the role with gravitas and intensity. Tabu captivates as Meera, a mother seeking justice for her son, while the supporting cast adds depth and nuance to the story.

The screenplay, adapted from Jeethu Joseph’s original story by Aamil Keeyan Khan and Abhishek Pathak, weaves multiple threads together seamlessly, culminating in a climactic finale packed with twists and turns. While the sequel maintains the unpredictability of its predecessor, some elements may feel contrived or stretched.

Nevertheless, Drishyam 2 succeeds in delivering a gripping tale that keeps audiences on the edge of their seats. With its blend of suspense, drama, and unexpected twists, the film ensures that the Salgaonkar family’s story will continue to resonate long after the credits roll.
