Dhadak 2 Review :-

A remake of the Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal and a sequel to Dhadak, director Shazia Iqbal’s movie sets a stark tone early on with the brutal murder of a man for being in a relationship with an upper-caste girl. The focus then shifts to the protagonists, Nilesh and Vidhi, while highlighting the discrimination faced by lower-caste students from their peers. Nilesh is mocked for his English skills, and a professor harshly ejects him from class, dismissing his admission as a “free seat.” Nilesh’s words, “Free ki badi keemat chukaani padti hai” (you have to pay a heavy price for something free), resonate deeply. Amid their growing romance, the film confronts the harsh realities of casteism.

The film presents several powerful, heart-wrenching scenes that highlight the injustices faced by oppressed castes—ranging from subtle moments, like Vidhi’s father (Harish Khanna) deliberately omitting Nilesh’s surname from the guest list for his elder daughter’s wedding, to overt acts of cruelty, such as classmates smearing Nilesh with sludge. The story also delves into the violence and false accusations often targeted at lower-caste individuals. While these moments pack an emotional punch, the romantic storyline between the leads feels somewhat underdeveloped.

Co-written by Iqbal and Rahul Badwelkar, the narrative sometimes becomes repetitive, focusing heavily on Nilesh’s struggles. It also introduces a subplot involving student politics, portraying Nilesh’s initial hesitation and hinted transformation, but this thread ultimately loses momentum.

The world of Dhadak 2 is harsh but not simply black and white. The college dean (Zakir Hussain), himself from a lower caste, shares how he was once beaten to stop him from studying—yet now influential families come to him seeking admission for their children. Meanwhile, Nilesh’s upper-caste friend stands loyally by his side.

Despite the heavy themes, the film sprinkles in well-timed moments of humor that offer some relief. The pacing remains steady, and Iqbal’s direction is effective, though the final payoff feels somewhat rushed. While the story builds to an intense climax, the resolution arrives abruptly. The soundtrack, especially Siddharth–Garima’s soulful Duniya Alag and Javed–Mohsin’s heartfelt Bas Ek Dhadak, beautifully enhances the emotional tone of the film.

Dhadak 2 Trailor :-

Siddhant Chaturvedi delivers an outstanding performance, portraying the journey from a timid youth to a confident man with nuance and depth. Triptii Dimri is believable as a naive yet steadfast partner, and Vipin Sharma leaves a lasting impression despite his brief role as Nilesh’s father.

Final Thought

The film is both engaging and emotionally powerful, though its conclusion feels somewhat subdued. It’s well worth watching for its honest and sensitive depiction of a persistent social issue, as well as for Siddhant Chaturvedi’s outstanding performance.
