In a recent interaction with Deadline, Deepika Padukone, one of the leading stars in Bollywood today, shared insights into her journey in the film industry, including auditioning for Hollywood roles and more. Reflecting on her Hollywood debut in 2017’s xXx: Return Of Xander Cage opposite Vin Diesel, Padukone revealed, “About a decade ago, when I started my journey in the West auditioning, it was a really new process for me because I’d never had to audition. I wasn’t a trained actor, and I never went to a fancy acting school – everything that I’ve learned has been on the job.”

Deepika Padukone, who recently signed her second Hollywood film, an untitled cross-cultural rom-com under the banner Ka Productions, discussed the differences in auditioning for Hollywood films compared to Bollywood. She remarked to Deadline, “The systems are so different between Hollywood and Bollywood. I think the world has become smaller, and the world has come together and it’s really about telling great stories. Whether it’s working in Sweden or Bosnia, it’s about telling interesting stories that resonate for an audience across the world.”

“I don’t think we’ve drastically changed anything in India about the way that we work or the kinds of stories that we tell. I think we’ve always had interesting stories to tell, but I do think that what has changed is that the world has opened up to the idea of the East and to India in particular and I think that’s the change – realizing there is a world outside of America,” Deepika Padukone added.

Regarding her work, Deepika Padukone’s latest appearance was in Fighter alongside Hrithik Roshan. She has a packed schedule ahead, with roles lined up in Kalki 2898 – AD alongside Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan. Additionally, she is set to feature in Singham Again and the Hindi remake of The Intern, co-starring Amitabh Bachchan.

Last year, she made a cameo appearance in SRK’s Jawan and starred in the blockbuster Pathaan alongside Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham. Notably, Deepika Padukone graced the 95th Academy Awards as one of the presenters. This year, she also attended the BAFTAs in a similar capacity.
