Edwin Payne (played by George Rexstrew) and Charles Rowland (played by Jayden Revri) are teenage ghost detectives who specialize in solving supernatural cases for their unique clientele. When they encounter Crystal (played by Kassius Nelson), a psychic facing a dangerous demonic dilemma caused by her evil ex, David (played by David Iacono), the duo are thrust into a world of mysterious dark forces. Their journey takes them to America, where they are tasked with locating a missing girl, leading them to an unexpected ally. However, their plans are disrupted when they become trapped in a quiet Washington town, contending with Crystal’s eccentric housemate, Niko (played by Yuyu Kitamura), whose apartment is plagued by paranormal parasites.

As the trio delves deeper into their investigations, they find themselves confronting a nightmarish cycle of inexplicable occurrences and formidable adversaries.

Originally inspired by Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner’s DC comic book series ‘The Sandman #25’, the characters of Edwin and Charles are instantly endearing, despite their ghostly nature. Despite having suffered bullying that led to their deaths many decades ago at a British boarding school, there’s nothing eerie about them. Yet, they face a host of enemies while striving to assist both the living and the dead. It’s a captivating premise ripe with potential for imaginative and spine-chilling storytelling, fully realized by show creator Steve Yockey. While each episode presents a standalone case, they are interconnected by a shared narrative and characters. Crystal’s psychic abilities complement the boys’ efforts to aid others. However, the romantic tension between Charles and Crystal feels one-sided and underdeveloped, serving as a minor distraction for both the audience and Edwin, the self-professed nerd from ancient times.
