Criminal Justice - A Family Matter (JioHotstar) Review :-

In the fourth season of Criminal Justice, Madhav Mishra and the familiar team return to unravel another shockingly complex and dramatic case. While the returning characters deliver their signature performances, the new faces introduce unsettling questions that keep us hooked, eager to uncover the truth.

The season’s storyline is engaging and accessible. While it may not be overly complex or mind-bending, it offers enough twists and turns to keep the viewing experience enjoyable. The plot revolves around Raj Nagpal, his wife Anju, and their daughter Ira, as they navigate the fallout after the murder of Ira’s caretaker, Roshni. Suspicion quickly spreads, with each family member pointing fingers at the others. Initially, it’s tough to pinpoint the culprit, making the unfolding mystery compelling and believable.

The full picture only comes together in the final episode, keeping viewers guessing until the very end. Suvreen Chawla and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub deliver standout performances as Anju and Raj, bringing depth to their roles. Key details are deliberately withheld until late in the season, which may leave audiences without clear answers until episode eight. The series strikes a good balance—occasionally tugging at the heartstrings but mostly maintaining a straightforward, focused narrative.

The returning characters bring such warmth and charm to the story that it’s impossible not to be drawn in by them. Even during moments of seemingly mundane conversation, their antics can easily bring a smile to your face. Thankfully, the lightheartedness is well-balanced and never overstays its welcome. Each returning character faces a fresh challenge, and whether they succeed or stumble, their on-screen chemistry and growth make for a genuinely enjoyable watch.

The new characters also add a compelling layer to the season. Unlike last season, which struggled to create believable new faces, this time around the main newcomers all carry secrets. Their motivations are clear from the beginning, though, naturally, there are plenty of skeletons hidden beneath the surface. Watching them interact, compete, and try to outmaneuver each other keeps the tension high and makes every character feel suspicious in the best way.

Alongside Suvreen Chawla and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, we also welcome back Pankaj Tripathi as the lead, Mishra Ji. Tripathi, a powerhouse who needs no introduction, delivers yet another brilliant performance. His blend of humor, sharp intellect, and keen attention to detail makes him the perfect anchor for a show like this. Joining him, Shweta Basu Prasad returns, while Adv. Lekha Piramal shines as the tough, no-nonsense prosecutor who remains unfazed by Mishra’s charm.

Final Thought

Criminal Justice Season 4 is straightforward and engaging, holding your attention throughout its roughly seven-hour runtime. The characters feel warm and relatable, the crime is sufficiently twisted to keep viewers intrigued, and the consistently strong performances keep the story flowing seamlessly. Overall, it’s a thoroughly entertaining watch.
