Crime Beat (Zee5) Review :-

The issue with Saqib Saleem’s Crime Beat is that it offers the most basic and underwhelming portrayal of journalism and crime in a TV series. Recently, we’ve seen these themes explored in much more captivating ways, diving into the gritty world of crime with thrilling, dramatic flair. Rahul Bhat’s Black Warrant, for example, proves how powerful storytelling can turn a simple plot into an extraordinary adventure. While I understand these shows belong to different genres, Crime Beat fails to even reach ordinary — it’s simply a below-mediocre watch.

The series fails to deliver on both humor and suspense. It drifts aimlessly from one plot point to another, attempting to create tension with gangster Binny, whose storyline barely holds any interest. Saleem’s portrayal of Abhishek aims for quirky, portraying a character desperate to prove himself, but he’s just another journalist among many, offering nothing distinctive. Both Binny and Abhishek are the core of the series, yet neither sparks any real intrigue or excitement from the very first episode. Sai Tamhankar’s Heroine is a somewhat interesting character, but she often gets overshadowed by the two men. As for Saba Azad’s role, I still can’t quite figure out its purpose.

As mentioned earlier, the plot is pretty basic — Abhishek is trying to impress his boss, his father, and perhaps himself with the biggest scoop of his career, and, naturally, gangster Binny Chaudhury lands right in his lap. Abhishek embarks on a pursuit to uncover the depths of the gangster’s empire, while Binny does what gangsters do — look menacing and engage in typical criminal behavior. Unfortunately, there’s little depth to these characters, and their motivations feel so clichéd that they’ve become almost predictable in this kind of story.

The story drags on at a painfully slow pace, with little happening to make it stand out from others. There’s Binny scheming his next move, and somehow Iran gets thrown into the mix for no clear reason. The creators attempt to turn it into a political drama full of secrets, lies, and endless plotting, but it all feels like a basic narrative with nothing fresh to offer. While Saleem brings sincerity to his portrayal of Abhishek, making you feel for the character, we’ve seen too many like him over the years. At some point, you start craving something more original.

Crime Beat (Zee5) Trailor :-

Final Thought

Crime Beat is lackluster and uninspired, offering nothing new or distinctive compared to other shows in the genre. We’ve seen this kind of story told in various ways before. While it’s not the worst show currently airing, it does have occasional bursts of action and entertainment to keep you going, but that’s about all it has to offer.
