Cartel (MxPlayer) Review :-

Set in contemporary Mumbai, Cartel explores the world of gangsters who dominate the city through their underworld operations. For the past 15 years, Mumbai has been free from gang-related violence, thanks to an agreement established by Rani Maai (Supriya Pathak) with other major gang leaders: Anna (Kannan Arunachalam), Gajraj (Shubhrajyoti Barat), Chairman (Ashwath Bhatt), and Khan (Anil George). This truce ensures that each gang operates within its own territory, with a strict rule of non-interference in each other’s affairs.

Rani Maai, a formidable matriarch, leans on her two nephews—Madhukar Mhatre, aka Madhu Bhau (Jitendra Joshi), and Arjun Mhatre, aka Major Bhau (Tanuj Virwani)—whom she regards as her own sons, as well as her biological son, Abhay Angre (Ritvik Dhanjani). When Rani Maai is shot in her own warehouse and falls into a coma, her three sons must step up to avenge her and keep their empire intact amid growing threats from rival crime lords. This marks the onset of a potentially devastating gang war.

Ekta Kapoor’s concept, combined with Prashant Bhagia’s tight direction, ensures a gripping experience that keeps viewers hooked from start to finish. While the initial episodes take their time to introduce the characters and set up the premise, the pace picks up significantly in later episodes. The series intensifies as it delves into the intricate web of illegal operations and the connections between the underworld and political, judicial, and corporate spheres. Written by Sambit Mishra and Monish K Talpade, the show maintains a brisk pace, with each episode beginning with a murder that unravels compellingly as the story progresses. The dialogue, rich in ‘bhai log’ dialect and sharp one-liners, adds authenticity, while Bharatt-Saurabh’s background music perfectly complements the series’ tone. Unexpected twists and a climactic showdown further enhance the excitement.

Cartel (MxPlayer) Trailor :-

Although ‘Cartel’ shares similarities with other gang war dramas like ‘Mum Bhai’ and ‘Satya,’ its characters set it apart. Tanuj Virwani stands out with his portrayal of Major Bhau, the rational and composed character amidst the chaos. Jitendra Joshi excels as the impulsive and abrasive Madhu Bhau, providing both tension and humor. His performance brings genuine laughs to the show. Girija Oak delivers a noteworthy performance as Madhu’s loving and supportive wife, Rama, adding depth to the narrative.

Rithvik Dhanjani delivers a compelling performance with a captivating character arc, showcasing a wide range of emotions. Supporting roles are equally impactful: Samir Soni as Nevelle Dorabjee and Monica Dogra as Maya, Abhay’s love interest, are crucial in driving the story forward. While the Angre sisters, Pranati Rai Prakash (Sumi) and Aditi Vasudev (Shweta), have less prominent roles, Dhaval, played by Amey Wagh, makes a significant impact as Shweta’s live-in partner.

Supriya Pathak’s minimal screen time in the early episodes is a disappointment, leaving viewers craving more until her dramatic return in the tenth episode with her memorable line, “Angre rote nahi, rulate hain.” The other gang leaders—Kannan Arunachalam (Anna), Shubhrajyoti Barat (Gajraj), Ashwath Bhatt (Chairman), and Anil George (Khan)—deliver solid performances, contributing to the show’s dynamic.

In summary, for fans of gang wars, ‘Cartel’ offers a thrilling mix of murder, mayhem, and gunfights. Each episode builds suspense, culminating in an unexpected climax that will pique your curiosity and set the stage for the next season.
