Captain America: Brave New World Review :-

Sam Wilson fully embraces his role as Captain America in this standalone film set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movie kicks off with a high-octane action sequence, where Sam and his new partner, Joaquin “Falcon” Torres (Danny Ramirez), thwart an illegal adamantium deal in Mexico. Their success leads to an invitation to the White House, where President Thaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford, replacing the late William Hurt) is pushing for a global treaty to distribute adamantium among nations. However, diplomacy takes a dangerous turn when super-soldier Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly) and four others launch a surprise attack on Ross, leading to Bradley’s arrest and Sam being fired from his position.

Determined to uncover the truth, Wilson and Torres launch an investigation that unravels a mind-control conspiracy masterminded by Samuel Sterns (Tim Blake Nelson), who seeks revenge after Ross reneges on a promise to free him. What ensues is a complex, action-packed mission, with Captain America and Falcon racing to prevent a war between Japan and the US, all while Ross transforms into the Red Hulk.

Directed and co-written by Julius Onah, the film delivers plenty of spectacle, though its sprawling narrative sometimes struggles to balance political intrigue, heroics, and the mind-control crisis orchestrated by Sterns. The action sequences keep the excitement high, but the drawn-out plot can occasionally disrupt the film’s pacing. Sam Wilson steps into the role of Captain America following Steve Rogers’ (Chris Evans) departure, opting to rely on his own abilities instead of the super-soldier serum. While this choice offers a chance to explore his self-doubt about being the right person for the mantle, the film doesn’t fully explore this angle as deeply as it could have.

The narrative attempts to weave in elements from previous films, but for viewers who haven’t followed the franchise closely, it might be difficult to fully connect the dots. That being said, the political intrigue, the strong camaraderie between Captain America and Falcon, the thrilling action, and solid performances make this a fun and engaging experience.

Anthony Mackie brings a grounded, relatable energy to the role of Captain America, presenting a slightly more “human” superhero compared to his predecessor and proving himself a worthy successor. Danny Ramirez shines as Falcon, bringing charisma and effortlessly cool charm to the character. Harrison Ford stands out as the once-villainous, now somewhat reformed military general, while Shira Haas makes a powerful impression as Ruth Bat-Seraph, a former Israeli Black Widow turned head of security for Ross.

Captain America: Brave New World is a solid installment, though the CGI falls a bit short of expectations. The climactic showdown between Captain America and Red Hulk is a standout moment, but it comes too late in the film. Despite a convoluted plot and some pacing issues, Brave New World offers thrilling aerial battles, intense hand-to-hand combat, strong performances, and enough spectacle to keep superhero fans entertained.
