The Polish film is well-paced, with a storyline that flows smoothly and captivates viewers with its infectious sense of adventure. The lively background score adds to the charm, keeping the atmosphere vibrant throughout. The relationships portrayed, particularly between Kasia and Jedrzej, and Jedrzej’s backstory involving his father and uncle, create strong emotional connections that keep viewers engaged. As Jedrzej and Kasia confront the challenges of being immigrants in London, the film underscores that their journey will not be easy.
The movie truly begins when Jedrzej realizes that life in his new country is not as smooth as it was back home, and that his passion for boxing is not as appreciated by others as it is by himself. Speaking of which, I felt the runtime could have been trimmed a bit—150 minutes seemed slightly excessive.
