Bhagwat - Chapter One - Raakshas (Zee5) Review :-
The film begins with Vishwas Bhagwat being transferred to a small town after getting into a fight with a criminal. Frustrated by the setback, he soon finds himself drawn into a missing person’s case—Poonam, a young woman who has been missing for days. Intrigued, he dives into the investigation, but with scant evidence, progress is slow.
Undeterred, Vishwas digs deeper and manages to trace Poonam’s phone records, discovering a number she frequently called late at night. Rumors suggest she might have been dating someone and possibly ran away with him. Still, Vishwas is determined to uncover the truth. Following the trail from the phone records, he uncovers a chilling pattern—several other women, all somehow connected to Poonam, have disappeared under similar circumstances over the years.
They visit Kavita, whose number appears in the mysterious phone’s call records. From her, they learn that a friend of hers might be involved. At this point, Bhagwat suspects a human trafficking ring but soon uncovers that the situation runs far deeper.
Meanwhile, one of the IMEI numbers under investigation leads the police to arrest two college students. The students reveal they found the phone after a confrontation with a man riding a scooter bearing a politician’s face. Comparing photos left at Kavita’s studio, the team realizes it’s the same man—eventually uncovering the name Rajkumar Siritiya, who has been deceiving Kavita for years.
After Kavita confirms he’s the same man, Bhagwat swiftly arrests Rajkumar with his team and plans to interrogate him over the Diwali weekend. Faced with the threat of imprisoning his wife Sumitra, Rajkumar breaks down and confesses to murdering 19 women to protect her.
Rajkumar, unemployed and with two wives to support, fabricated a story that he was a college professor to gain women’s trust. He lured them into relationships, promising marriage if they ran away with him. But the truth was darker—his heart belonged only to Sumitra, and he killed the other women to steal their valuables and maintain the charade.
Bhagwat - Chapter One - Raakshas (Zee5) Trailor :-
Throughout the film, we follow Sameer’s growing relationship with Meera, which appears to unfold in the present. However, by the end, we discover that the Meera incident actually took place years earlier. In the present day, Meera is the only woman who escaped Sameer’s grasp—she survived after only licking a cyanide capsule he gave her, which put her into a coma instead of killing her. Now married with a young daughter, she lives in constant fear of the trauma inflicted by Rajkumar, also known as Sameer.
Final Thought
Though it initially looks like Rajkumar might exploit a loophole to avoid jail, Meera arrives at court after days of torment to testify against him and prevent him from harming more women. The final scene reveals that Rajkumar has been sentenced to prison—and even death—for the 19 murders. Yet, he continues to stall justice by appealing to various courts, desperate to slip through the cracks of the system.
