BET (Netflix) Review :-
The series centers on a gambling prodigy and transfer student who enrolls at a prestigious school where one’s social standing is determined by their gambling skills. With everything on the line, she disrupts the established hierarchy with her bold, eccentric personality that’s anything but easy to break. As the stakes rise, it becomes clear that her true mission at the school goes far beyond what she initially reveals.
Adapted from the popular Japanese manga Kakegurui, the show comes with high expectations for fans. Yet, this version offers a fresh twist that keeps you hooked through all 10 episodes. Fortunately, the episodes are concise, and the gripping storyline makes the time fly by. Netflix has picked the perfect story to adapt, and I’m genuinely pleased with this take on the manga.

It’s understandable that many fans might be uneasy with a non-Japanese cast portraying such iconic characters in this adaptation. After all, there’s already a live-action version with a Japanese cast. However, Netflix’s take is surprisingly captivating. Miku Martineau, in particular, shines as Yumeko, delivering a brilliant performance. Her rapid shifts in expression—ranging from calm to wild—are mesmerizing and keep the audience completely hooked during key scenes. These moments, with her seamless transitions, are truly unforgettable.
That said, while Miku’s portrayal stands out, the rest of the cast is a bit uneven. Some actors match her level of performance, but others don’t quite fully embody their characters. These inconsistencies are noticeable but don’t linger long enough to detract from the overall experience. Visually, the show is stunning, beautifully capturing the high-stakes gambling world it portrays. You’ll find yourself fully immersed in the thrilling, intense atmosphere of this series.

Finally, the series’ plot is just as strong as every other aspect. It appeals not only to fans of the original and international audiences but also to viewers who are completely new to the story. It has a universal charm that captivates everyone, making it an excellent choice for group viewing.
