Beauty in Black Season 2 (Netflix) Review :-
You have to give Perry credit for consistently creating some of the most nonsensical and convoluted storylines we’ve seen in recent years. Beauty in Black—a sprawling show with a large ensemble cast and an overload of plots and subplots—returns for a second season that’s just as baffling as the first, which was already pretty terrible.
The thing about this show is that you have to lock your brain away before diving into its chaos—and season 2 demands it even more. Across eight episodes, very little of substance actually happens. It’s mostly Mallory and Roy exchanging disrespectful barbs, Varney acting needy, and Kimmie panicking over a situation she willingly jumped into. This season is so mind-numbingly dumb, it made me seriously question why it even exists.
Season 2 mainly tracks Kimmie stepping into the ruthless boss role Horace envisioned, while the rest of the Bellary family scrambles to stop her. Yet, for some reason, very little actually happens with any of the characters, leaving the season feeling frustratingly stagnant and lacking real plot or momentum. There’s a new character introduced who shows some promise, but they mostly stay on the sidelines, and the drama rarely hits that guilty-pleasure level of engaging entertainment.
There’s honestly not much to analyze here because there’s barely anything going on. Most of the storylines are shallow shock moments quickly resolved or just silly distractions that don’t hold up. It takes seven episodes for Kimmie to confront the entire Bellary clan, and even then, nothing truly impactful unfolds. Sure, her victory using facts and figures is satisfying in the moment, but it’s far from memorable.
Beauty in Black Season 2 (Netflix) Trailor :-
It’s obvious that the series has saved all the interesting moments for the next season, leaving this one feeling completely dull. This season is nothing more than fluff, lacking any real substance or excitement. What’s disappointing is that it’s not even entertaining—sometimes, we just need a forgettable melodrama that may not make much sense but is still deliciously engaging. Unfortunately, this season doesn’t even deliver on that.
Final Thought
Season 1 of Beauty in Black wasn’t great, but it was a guilty pleasure packed with juicy drama. Season 2, however, falls flat—coming across as annoying, dull, and painfully repetitive, like a “been there, done that” rerun. I found myself skipping through large chunks, which is never a good sign. On top of that, the show struggles to explore the darker, more disturbing sides of its characters, instead having them endlessly complain without taking any meaningful action. Maybe the next season will improve, but the question is: will viewers stick around long enough to find out?
