They say curiosity killed the cat, and the people of Baramulla might be finding that out the hard way. When a series of child abductions shakes the calm of Kashmir’s beautiful valley, DSP Ridwaan Sayyed is brought in to figure out what’s really going on. But as he digs deeper, he realizes there’s something much darker beneath the surface—something that’s putting everyone at risk.
The film is a real treat for horror fans, blending the tension of a police investigation with the eerie pull of supernatural folklore. While it’s easy to believe in the realism of the investigation, the supernatural elements feel surprisingly grounded and emotionally authentic. From the very beginning, the story hints that something otherworldly might be behind the disappearances—but the criminal undertones keep us questioning whether it’s all just in our heads. When the truth finally surfaces, it delivers a genuinely satisfying twist.
The film’s moody atmosphere and shadowy visuals keep you constantly on edge, scanning the background to see if something—or someone—is lurking there. Thankfully, it doesn’t rely on cheap jump scares; instead, it builds a steady, simmering tension that pays off. It’s one of the stronger horror releases of the year—imperfect, perhaps, but thoroughly engaging for fans of the genre. With its slow-burn storytelling and mounting sense of dread, it keeps you wondering what’s coming next.
That said, the film can feel a bit predictable at times—even down to how some of the characters react. While I’ll admit the final twist caught me off guard, everything leading up to it follows a fairly familiar path. In cases like this, presentation makes all the difference, and thankfully, the film handles that well enough to overshadow some of the story’s shortcomings. Still, I couldn’t help but wonder if that final twist crosses a line—whether it respectfully addresses a sensitive issue or simply uses it for shock value. Maybe that depends on the viewer, but the thought lingered with me long after the credits rolled.
