Bandidos Season 2 (Netflix) Review :-
Season 2 of the hit Mexican series Bandidos delves into the thrilling issues from Lili’s past that resurface to complicate her gang’s present, forcing them into another high-stakes adventure. Much like Season 1, this season maintains a light-hearted and playful tone, making a conscious effort to avoid taking itself too seriously. This approach works in its favor, as the quirky and humorous vibe aligns perfectly with the over-the-top nature of the plot and the way the treasure is treated.
Additionally, I found the heavy focus on Lili—her present, her past, and everything in between—somewhat excessive. While it’s great to explore everyone’s personal struggles, which adds depth to the story, Lili’s storyline takes up so much space this season that it becomes frustrating. The other characters, including Miguel, are pushed to the sidelines, which feels both confusing and unnecessary.
Moreover, her backstory doesn’t provide enough depth or complexity to justify such intense attention. It feels overdone without enough substance to make it impactful, leading to a sense of boredom after a while. While last season’s femme fatale maintains her mystique and looks captivating in every scene, viewers will find themselves drawn to her. Unfortunately, everything else in the season will likely leave you rolling your eyes.
This season, Miguel, Lili, and their gang embark on another treasure hunt, following a series of adventures to unravel a tantalizing riddle. While the journey they undertake is decent, it lacks the excitement needed to keep viewers fully engaged. At times, I found myself bored, as the focus shifted too much toward interpersonal relationships. Another issue with the series is its “children’s show” vibe, which made it difficult for me to take the plot seriously. The storytelling feels too loose for anything to truly land or have an impact.
There are few twists, and the ones that do appear are completely predictable. The series hardly qualifies as a heist thriller, as most of the runtime is consumed by Lili’s romantic entanglements or other trivial subplots that don’t add any depth. Additionally, the show often feels incredibly unrealistic in how it portrays its characters and their supposed struggles. At times, it’s so obvious that it borders on being absurd. It almost seems like the creators expect viewers to accept anything that’s presented, which is exactly what’s wrong with the whole approach.

The series is filled with a lot of exposition, which surprisingly didn’t bother me. Alfonso Dosal has a unique, quirky way of delivering even the most mundane history lessons, which makes them surprisingly engaging and leaves you wanting to hear more. However, I think the creators missed an opportunity to make the actual heist more intriguing and original, instead relying on familiar tropes and calling it a day. At one point, the story takes a turn that’s almost comical—it’s hard to even classify it as a heist, given how little of the heist itself is actually shown on screen.
I also have to mention that I didn’t really understand the role of Ximena Lamadrid’s character, Regina. She’s not intimidating, and her character doesn’t really excel in any traditional antagonist traits. It all feels strangely out of place.
Final Thought
Bandidos Season 2 is rather underwhelming, failing to deliver anything that keeps viewers engaged. It feels outdated, overly focused on one character, and lacks the excitement needed to make the heist sequences stand out. Overall, this one’s easy to skip.
