As Indian football icon Sunil Chhetri officially announced his retirement from international football, numerous Bollywood celebrities took to social media to bid him farewell and honor his achievements. Ranveer Singh was among the first to comment on Sunil Chhetri’s Instagram post, adding a teary-eyed emoji. Additionally, Arjun Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan penned heartfelt notes honoring the legend. Arjun described it as the ‘end of an era’, while Abhishek expressed gratitude to the sports star for his significant contributions to Indian football.

Chhetri shared a photo of himself facing a stadium, captioning it, ‘Alright, then’. Pankaj Tripathi commented on his post, saying, “Lots of love and best wishes, friend!” Arjun Kapoor posted a photo of Chhetri on his Instagram stories, writing, “End of an era. Thank you, Sunil Chhetri, for the memories, the passion, and the unmatched dedication.” Arjun has long been known as a football enthusiast.

Abhishek Bachchan paid tribute to Sunil Chhetri through an Instagram post as well. He wrote, “Congratulations Cap on such a Legendary career! It has been an honor to see you play for the country and lead by example. To one of the greatest ever Indian sportsmen… Thank you!”

Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar also praised Chhetri for his legendary career, during which he served as the captain of India’s national football team. His final match was the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifier against Kuwait. With an impressive record of 94 international goals, Chhetri stands as the fourth-highest goal scorer in the world.
