Anupam Mittal, a key figure on Shark Tank India, recently shared insights into his investment journey, particularly highlighting his successful ventures with Ola and Porter. Despite initially dismissing the idea of ride-sharing cabs in India, Mittal eventually recognized its potential and became an early investor in Ola. Reflecting on his decision, he attributed his understanding of emerging trends to his decade-long stint in the US.
In an interview on the Barbershop podcast, Mittal recounted his initial skepticism about the concept, shaped by his experiences in Mumbai, where hailing cabs was seemingly effortless. However, a visit to Delhi opened his eyes to the challenges some people faced in accessing transportation. Impressed by Bhavish Aggarwal’s determination and passion, Mittal decided to invest in Ola, eventually exiting the company with significant returns.
Mittal also discussed his investment in Porter, acknowledging its impressive growth and valuation. Despite opportunities to exit at lucrative valuations, he expressed confidence in Porter’s potential for further expansion and market dominance. While he hinted at a possible exit in the near future, Mittal emphasized the importance of patience and strategic decision-making in investment ventures.
Currently, Mittal continues to be a part of Shark Tank India, where he shares his expertise and evaluates promising entrepreneurial ventures alongside other notable investors
