Agni is a gripping thriller from start to finish, packed with intense drama. The film sheds light on the sacrifices made by firefighters in India, who often receive little recognition or reward for their dangerous work. Vitthal’s struggles, both personal and professional, are central to the story, with his challenges offering a relatable experience for the audience. The lack of support from both the system and the public is striking, underscoring how little we understand the hardships of this perilous job.
The film excels in portraying not only the physical but also the emotional toll on firefighters. The dynamic between them and the police evokes memories of Brooklyn 99’s humorous rivalry between Fire Marshal Boone and Jake Peralta, but in Agni, the stakes are much higher. The film delves into real, serious issues, and the micro-aggressions felt by the firefighters hit hard. You can’t help but feel the immense strain caused by the system’s indifference to their plight, particularly when it’s clear to them but not to others.
The film moves at a fast pace, skillfully weaving together a thrilling and emotional narrative that allows us to deeply connect with the characters and their struggles.
